Coaching

The course offered three coached chamber music sessions each day: two in the morning and one in the late afternoon. Members were asked to provide their own chamber music and scores where possible, but orchestral music was provided.

Afternoon Activities

String Orchestra took place on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. For 2019 the String Orchestra studied Respighi Ancient Airs and Dances.

Subject to sufficient demand, there was sometimes the option of a large wind ensemble on one or two afternoons; repertoire selected to suit those indicating on their application form that they wish to play.

The afternoon also provided the opportunity to form ad hoc music groups.

Evening Activities - Chamber Orchestra

Extracts of up to 10 minutes were be considered, but acceptance was at the discretion of the Musical Director and organisers.

Members' Concert

An informal members' end-of-course orchestral concert was be held in the main hall at 7.30 pm on the final evening. Friends were welcome to attend the concert which was followed by drinks.
